Committees

A wise man once said "Going to church on Sunday doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car." Going to worship services is certainly an important part of a Christian's life, but being a Christian is about more than that. Being a Christian is also about service. We are called to serve our church, our community, our neighbors, and anyone who is in need. Being a Christian means freely sharing your time, your talents, and your resources with others. Here at Trinity we have a number of committees and organizations through which members can serve our church and our community.

Church Council

The Church Council is the group of people in charge of running the church. They prepare the yearly budget, and hold monthly meetings to discuss all aspects of the church. There are currently nine members on the council.  Three new members are elected at the annual meeting of the church each year. Each member serves a three year term.

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee advises the Church Council concerning how money is spent and accounted for. They prepare monthly and year end reports for the Council and also work on the annual budget.

Property Committee

The work of the Property Committee is to keep all of the church property in good order. They cut the grass, trim the shrubs, remove the snow, and fix anything that's broken.

Christian Education Committee

The Christian Education Committee is in charge of the Sunday School and Confirmation programs.

Worship and Music Committee

The Worship and Music Committee takes care of all the planning for our worship services. They see that bulletins are ordered, printed, and folded for each service. They pick the hymns and other music that will be played by our organists, Donna Anderson and Debbie Nelson. They also make sure there are ushers at every service. Anyone interested in ushering can sign up in the back of the church.

Choir

Trinity's choir is made up a number of men and women from the congregation. They often sing the "Special Music" during the Sunday service, and also sing during special services, such as the Christmas hymn sing. Any member of the congregation who enjoys singing is welcome to join. The choir practices at 9:15 on most Sunday mornings.

Social Ministry Committee

As Christians, we are called to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and heal the sick. The Social Ministry Committee is the group in our church that reaches out to help those in need. However, Social Ministry is not only a group project. Much can be done by individuals, and we encourage all members of our congregation to do what they can to help those around them. Members of Trinity's congregation are currently involved in Edgerton Outreach, Gifts for Kids, the school breakfast program, the Food Pantry, Skaalen Home, the Edgerton Hospital, and services at the local hospital.

Memorials Committee

The work of the Memorials Committee is to find and purchase items for the church using monies which were left to the church as memorials.

Audit Committee

The Audit Committee meets every year to audit the books of the Financial Secretary (Sandy Anderson), Current Fund Treasurer (Debbie Richardson), and Building Fund/Memorials Treasurer (Lucille Bartz).

WELCA

WELCA, which stands for Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, is made up of two groups, the Alpha Circle and the Martha Circle. The women of our congregation are kept busy with many different projects, including bake sales, making Sunday School bags for the Christmas program, serving the Easter breakfast, senior citizen's dinner, and funeral luncheons, and volunteering their time at the local hospital and nursing home. Money earned from bake sales and other events is donated to many organizations, including Edgerton Outreach, Food Pantry, Ray of Love, the school breakfast program, and Gifts for Kids. Any women in the congregation are welcome to join.

Alpha Circle

The Alpha Circle is responsible for the setup and cleanup of Sunday communions. They also make bookmarks for confirmands and napkins for baptisms.

Martha Circle

The main duty of the Martha Circle is to serve funeral luncheons which are held at the church. They also take care of gifts and desserts for the Birthday Party at the Long Term Care Unit at the local hospital.
